Crescendo: soft skills training for sustainability

WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS FACED BY FARMERS IN 2025?

Agriculture has changed a lot in the last few years! Let’s have a look at the problems faced by Crescendo participants: they are a very interesting cross-section of the issues faced by the younger generation of farmers now in Italy – and probably throughout Europe.

  • “Give a presentation on regenerative gardens, show why they are convenient”.
  • “Write a project to get financed for Agroforestry”.
  • “Present myself, my talents, my skills to be made available for co-created horticultural therapy and sensory garden projects useful to the community.
  • «How to submit a project, for example, for a women’s prison, or for an association that hosts disabled people or to a RSA [Assisted Living Facility]? How to submit a project in order to find institutions that support its financing?”
  • “How to learn to communicate and share effectively in as many forms as possible? “
  • “New ways of communicating. Building public interventions. Have a new experience.”
  • “How to communicate to farmers?”
  • “How to improve communication styles? “
  • “Build a mini presentation video for a natural pond waterproofing project in the company”
  • “Creation of a video useful for making the communication of a PA accessible/understandable, with particular reference to the sectors represented by the participants in the Crescendo project”
  • “Build a mini video presentation of the company also for company visits or trade fairs.”
  • “Improve my empathetic side with people and the ability to communicate effectively without arguing.”

The picture is one of an agricultural sector which is deeply inter-connected with the rest of society – inter-connected with technology, with the need to generate an income in multiple ways, with the Internet, and with the need to network inside the agricultural sector.

The beauty of the CRESCENDO framework is that these problems can be addressed directly through the Action-Learning pedagogy of the training course – a specific method of training whereby participants work on the current, practical issues they face in their lives, and cooperatively pose questions, give answers, and co-develop solutions with the facilitation of trainers.
